IPSY Bag of Goodies: November 2013

The moment I think that IPSY has gone above and beyond any other beauty subscription service, they go on to top themselves!!! This months bag was filled with the biggest selection of makeup I've ever received and they even added a gorgeous gunmetal Nailtini polish! This is a whole look in a bag, no really!!!
So when a company gives me a look, I go to work and rock it!

Tonight I'm working with some gorgeous amethyst metallics and instead of using a pearly shadow base, I went with the matte. You'll see why in a moment.
For this specific look, I used LancĂ´me's Aquatique shadow base, a peachy nude matte that feels almost like a spreadable clay. I mean this in the best sense, because the coverage is almost supernatural. It covers any discoloration and really primes the lid to get the most pigment packed on to each millimeter of the lid.
Instead of using my liner last, I went ahead and put it first. It's a Gem Pencil from Star Looks in Amethyst and it is almost a perfect match for the shadow, possibly a touch lighter. The shimmer and sparkle is absolutely stunning and is a product that you could easily wear without shadow. I've used other Star Looks pencils and I must say they all have amazing pigment, but they also aren't dry. There is a slight creamy texture without being waxy or greasy.
For this look, I applied the pencil to the inner corners of my eye and then tracing along the natural lash line on both upper and lower lash lines.
Next I used a fluffy shadow brush to apply BH Cosmetics Baked Eyeshadow  in Eclipse. I'm only using one color and this is where using a matte shadow base comes in. I don't like to have "mall eyes" or "Full Metallic Jacket". Using metallic over metallic, defined and lined with metallic looks like the kind of look that you see on young girls experimenting with makeup, while shopping for jeans. The matte base almost becomes a second shadow, accentuating the beauty of this baked shadow. I apply from lid to crease and then lightly swirl under and along the lash line. This shadow over the liner is stunning. You don't need to add a liquid liner or any other liner to this look. The metallic shadow is the whole show, anything else would cross over into a Mariah Carey video and not in a fun way!

For mascara, I used Tartes gold faux snakeskin cased Lights, Camera, Flashes. I light the thought that goes behind this. It has a row of shorter bristles that you use first to comb through lashes and then on the other half, it has longer, larger bristles that you use for the second coat.
I really want to like this mascara because I like the idea behind it. I also like the smell. It smells like baklava. Seriously. You don't smell your mascara? You really should, that shit is going on your eyelashes and could possibly get into your eyes. You don't want to learn the hard way that your mascara feels like AND SMELLS LIKE habanero infused dog vomit. Think about it.
Anyway, I like this mascara, but I'm going to need to use this a couple more times. It's really wet and takes a long time to dry down and if you're a lucky lassy with long  lashey's, it's gonna get all over your new masterpiece.
Instead of using blush, a highlighter and a bronzer, I just used PIXI's Beauty Bronzer in Subtly Suntouched. This is a cooler toned pinkish bronzer. It really looks like a natural flush to the skin. You know how people go ape shit for NARS Orgasm? This is more of a true "afterglow" look or the look of someone that's healthy and happy. I really like this! I'm almost out of one of my MAC Beauty Powders and this is the perfect product to take its place. There's the perfect amount of pigment and pearl and is gorgeous with any look. If you are one of those ladies that like a no fuss no muss natural gorgeous look, I'm looking in your direction Bre Syron, you gotta get this!
For lips I primed with Chapsticks 8 hr Moisture Lock with COQ10 and lined with Star Looks Tickle Me Pink. This is the perfect neutral pink that can really morph between any lipstick shade or be used with a lip balm for that "your lips but better" look.
Finally, this bag included a lipstick, One True Kiss, from Michelle Phan's new makeup line ".em" . It's a sheer mocha pink, emphasis on the pink. This is again, a great one for the natural beauty on the go. It really makes you look more finished, especially if the lipstick will be the only color on the face.

I am in love, in deep smit with IPSY. My fingers itch for some acetone and a cotton ball so I can rock my new polish. The gunmetal color is going to look amazing with thiz fayce!
I'm gonna have to investigate this Tarte mascara. I don't know kids. Tarte might have a poo poo on its hands. Btw, this mascara wasn't in my IPSY bag, nor was the Chapstick or lip liner. I just wanted to test drive these new babies with the IPSY arsenal!
Thank you Gwynnie Bee for providing this sexy, hawt shoulder baring dress from Vickie Tiel! If you're a sassy chubster like mama, check them out! You can rent a whole wardrobe and get new clothes each month! For real!
Stay tuned for more awesomeness aka The Birchbox booty for November!!!
