Ali MacGraw to me is such an iconic beauty. Her face is fresh and fabulous, even in her 70's. I love how simple it is to get the fabulous, famous Ali look. It is casual and chic, natural but oh so polished. Sigh. Love this lady!
For this look I'm focusing on a matte look for the eye with a healthy pink cheek with bronze accent and neutral lip.
Start with cleansed, hydrated skin. When I think of Ali, I think of a healthy glow and for that, I will be using my Marula Oil from the Leakey Collection. We'll let that set as we apply eye makeup.
Start by priming the lids with Lancomes Aquatique. As I venture into eye primers, I've really begun a new found love for Aquatique. It has a beautiful salmon undertone that really brightens the eye. It's a creamy formula that blends like a dream and you don't need a lot to do the trick. I like using this when my eyes need a base that brightens and lasts all day. I really like this base for photos because it doesn't give a raccoony look.
To enlarge and brighten the eyes a bit more, I apply, you guessed it, nyx's Milk jumbo pencil to the lower waterline. Make sure to thoroughly blend out the white pencil so that it doesn't clump in the lashes.
For this look, I only want one shadow: Rose de Mai from Chanel. This is a beautiful warm, matte, apricot-rose. There is an opalescence to this shadow, if a matte opalescence makes sense. I have never found a dupe for this and I don't care to. There are some things in life that are one of a kind, which is why if you ever find a Chanel dupe, STOCK UP!!!!
Apply the color starting at the inner corner and all over the lid, into the crease. Color needs to be predominately on the lid and crease, graduating up to the browbone in an ombre effect. The brow area needs to be as sheer as possible, the blending brush is your friend!
Using Urban Decay's 24/7 pencil in black, apply thinly into the lashline, stopping at center iris. Using the same technique, apply liner to the lower lashline. Using a stiff liner brush, blend liner into lashes, both top and bottom.
Using Chanel's Hydramax tinted moisturizer, I apply, focusing on area's that need evening out. The Ali MacGraw look is healthy and glowy in the skin department, no heavy coverage or concealing. In fact for concealer, I used Chanel's Lift Lumiere Concealer in Beige Abricot, under the eyes, patting down the sides of my nose. Make sure to blend seamlessly.
Set makeup with Chanel's Poudre Universelle Libre in 30 naturel. Chanel's loose powder is my hands down favorite. It last's forever, seriously we're going on 4 years. This powder is so finely milled that a slight touch with the brush is all you need. This is another example of you get what you pay for. Even if you've never gone there with Chanel before, now is the time I suggest that you do.
I always apply mascara after powder, that way you can keep any powder business from ruining your lashes. For this look I used Cliniques Lash Doubling mascara. This mascara isn't the best, to be honest, but I enjoy the natural, sleek look. It doesn't give much curl so if you want it, grab your lash curler and hit that beezy. Make sure to apply to both top and bottom lashes.
Blush time! I love how pretty Ali looks with just a naturally flushed cheek. Damn I love that skin of hers! It's too good to be real!
I apply Chanel's In Love to the apples of the cheeks, temples and blend lightly to the jawline. After applying the blush, I take a clean face brush and buff the blush and powder together, making it look supernaturally super natural. See what I did there ;)
For lips I want a shimmery peachy tone to mirror the blush. Instead of using a liner, I just go straight for the gloss, no fuss, no muss! For this look I am using nar's Orgasm- yes there is a gloss to match the storied blush and it is equally steamy and just gorgeous. So I used it.
Like our Ava and Sophia look, http://missladymo.blogspot.com/2012/12/hollywood-holiday-quickie-ava.html , the brows are thick and polished. I filled in my brows with ole faithful, Chanel's Precision Brow Definer in Auburn.
Go grab a mirror and say "Love means not having to say you're sorry". I think this look is really pretty for a 14 year old or a 70 year old. It's bright and fresh and just looks healthy.
