5 Minute Makeup!!!!!

From time to time my friends will email or facebook me, requesting certain looks or products. I think its so cool that people ask for my recommendations and I am always happy to share information on products I like and looks that I love. Today I am going to share one of those requests.

My friend, Bre, writes: "Alright Miss Marisa-next blog request. Easy everyday look-one you can use all winter. Reason being-I go to school at OSU so I leave EUG at like 6 every morning, therefore spending a lot of time on my face is the last thing I want to do, however I hate looking like death everyday. I need some inspiration!!"

I got this. I have a very quick and super easy 5 minute makeup look that will disguise the fact that you are tired or slept in and are running late.

The skin on your face and under your eyes is a dead giveaway for how much sleep you're getting (or not getting), if you're dehydrated, if you're sick, etc. I always harp on taking care of your skin, but it will help you not only in the future, but especially for those days where you don't have time to do full makeup.
Eye cream is a necessity for anyone over the age of 20, seriously. The eye area is so delicate that if you didn't sleep well or aren't drinking enough water, dark circles and puffiness are waiting to bitch slap you as soon as you look in the mirror. Use aeye cream that is suitable to your skin type and concerns. I use my beloved Benifiance from Shiseido because I have really dry skin around my eyes, dark circles and fine lines.
A couple days ago I started using Marula Oil before my moisturizer and my skin is looking and feeling so smooth, hydrated and glows. It sounds counterproductive to put oil on your skin, but Marula Oil is used in many African countries as a moisturizer because of its hydrating qualities and antioxidants.

After you have cleansed and moisturized your skin, its time to perk up the eyes! NYX Eyeshadow Pencil in Milk is one of my Holy Grail products I speak of regularly and rightly so. Make sure your pencil is sharpened but not too sharp of a point. You'll want to start applying the pencil to the tear duct and on the top lid, inner corner and then blend. You'll want the lid to be lightened but not pure white. Applying white pencil to the inner corner of the eyes gives a wide awake, healthy look and sheered out on top of the lids just adds to the "8 hours of sleep? Oh yeah!" ;)

The Super Curl mascara from Urban Decay is also a life saver for those days you are crunched for time. The wand is angled in a way that will extend the lashes but also curl them upwards. I'm not great at remembering to use av eyeshadow curler, so this is an awesome substitute! Curled lashes and white pencil= bright eyes!
Instead of using a thick concealer, I apply, with my fingers, a bit of foundation under my eyes or anywhere else I need correcting. True Match LUMI from L'Oreal, is a great product. I don't usually like drugstore foundation because it has a habit of using cheap ingredients that oxidize on the face, leaving the skin Oompa Loompa orange. This is way different. Without using shimmer or glitter, the True Match Lumi, brightens the skin and gives a healthy and dewy, not greasy, look to the skin.

For this next step, there are a few options, all giving the same healthy glow to the face. For this tutorial,
I used Candid Coral (Bottom pic) from ELF. It is a gorgeous apricot color that has a gold and pearly highlight to it. It really warms up the complexion and I think is a great choice if you have light to medium skin or tan skin.
Pink Swoon by MAC (middle), is a sheer pink blush that gives a natural flush to the skin. This is a universal color, anyone can use it and because it is sheer, it looks natural.
Also by MAC, the Crew highlighting powder (top) from the Hey Sailor collection has a pink, coral and a lavender color that you can use separately or all together for a sheer, healthy look all over the face. I prefer to use it on the cheeks, chin and forehead.
All of these are great choices and deliver the same bright glow for your skin, its really just a matter of color preference.
******************TIP: Whichever you end up using on your face, put that compact in  your bag and later on when you have a break at school or work, lighly apply a small amount of the blush or highlight powder to the crease of the eye, blending slightly above the crease. This really polishes up this look and is a nice touch mid day when you need some extra oomph!******

I have spoken of and sang the praises of Maybellines Baby Lips many, many times. This is an awesome product if you like a little bit of moisture (me) and a little bit of color (also me). This is perfect for this look because it looks really pulled together and (if you're playing a drinking game.....drink) HEALTHY! I shout from the rooftops!
For this look I used the red tinted "Cherry Me". My lips already have a lot of pigment to them, so if you have really pale lips maybe the pink shade would work better, but since these don't really transfer tons of color, you get a pretty lip without looking "all mouth".
Another option is Fresh Sugar Rose Balm. That is the most sheer of the tinted balms I've come across and alot of my fairer friends prefer this because of how light the rose color is. It is a little bit more spendy compared to Baby Lips, but is a delightful product!
This 5 minute makeup look is tried and true and I always get compliments (brag). I don't know of anyone who enjoys looking like shat when they're late, sick or just don't have the time to paint a full face.

This was tested yesterday when I woke up late from a nap and had to attend two meetings.
