Where Did My Favorite Beauty Product Go: The Vamp Edition

We all know that we wanted to be Mia Wallace at one point. When Pulp Fiction was released, everyone coveted her sleek, yet minimalist chic style. The Holy of the Holiest of Grails was that nail color, Vamp by Chanel.
Vamp, also known as Rouge Noir, became an obsession. Chanel had waiting lists a mile long for this shade of, what the kids today call, Ox Blood. For years Vamp/Rouge Noir was a staple, a reliable jewel in Chanel's beauty crown, until one day in the late aughts, it was gone.
Now let me rephrase "gone". Reformulated.....into pure and utter caca. It's no coincidence that the name rhymes with "tramp", a strange shimmer was sharted into this classic and it became the dime-store hooker version of its former self. Do not buy this shade thinking you're getting the real deal and don't even get me STARTED on Urban Decay's pathetic attempt at a replica with their Pulp Fiction collection.
With all of my grumbling, I am pacified by Vamp/Rouge Noir's presence on eBay, but also by the best dupe around: Vixen by Revlon. This you may get.
This is the first of what I hope to be many of "Where'd It Go" columns. If you wonder what happened to your fave fragrance, skincare or beauty product, drop me a line: mo9191976@aol.com
